This sounds relatively minor. Although any arm related problems are worrisome in pitchers this problem seems easily retified with a couple of weeks off. Owners should not panic, nor should they release Matsuzaka under any circumstances.

So who takes his rotation spot? Buccholz?
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to say. Buchholz makes sense but since the need is apparently so short term they could just move everyone up in the order. They would only need a fifth starter once. Other options would be Masterson or using Wakefield on short rest, which they've done often when they need a short term solution.If Matsuzaka were to miss more than a start or two Buchholz probably gets first shot at the job.
